Prof. Dr. med. Federico Tatò

Prof. Federico Tatò studied medicine at the Universities of Heidelberg and Mainz, where he graduated in 1987. He absolved his training in internal medicine in the Medical Policlinic of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and was a fellow in endocrinology and metabolism at the Center for Human Nutrition of the University of Texas in Dallas, USA. During these years his main clinical and scientific interests were diabetes, lipid metabolism and arteriosclerosis. Based on his research on the metabolism of HDL-cholesterol he was appointed professor of internal medicine in 2000.

After completing his training in internal medicine, Professor Tatò specialized in angiology and in 1996 he became senior physician in the Center for Vascular Medicine of the University of Munich. In 2009 Prof. Tatò was appointed head of the department of angiology at the University Heart Center in Hamburg. Since 2011 Prof. Tatò is a partner in the vascular medicine practice “im Tal”.

Prof. Tatò is an outstanding internist with a broad clinical training in all fields of internal medicine. His main focus is the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the veins and arteries. Prof. Tatò is a skilled vascular interventionalist familiar with all catherter techniques for the treatment of peripheral arterial disease. In addition, Professor Tatò has a special clinical and scientific interest in inflammatory vascular disease (vasculitis).

Professor Tatò is the author of numerous scientific publications and co-author of leading medical textbooks.
